Charleston Trumpeter; 24''x24', Oil on canvas
This piece has traveled with me from Charleston to Sarasota to New Hartford… evolving as have my paintings over the years. I feel the rectangular neon bars serve to distance the viewer from the natural world but at the same time emphasize it. The bars also give the painting a sense of structure not unlike stained glass… creating individual scenes that add up to a “whole”.
