Pegasus - Branford, CT and Sarasota, FL; Oil on birch panel - 48"x48"

$6,500.00

This Pegasus was atop a transformed garage in CT; the Office sign is from a motel in Sarasota; the seagull from Chatham pier on Cape Cod; the angry Irish crow follows me everywhere. I keep thinking the seagull is speaking truth to power while the crow is eternally skeptical. The negative shapes surrounding the Pegasus seem ominous to me... a furrowed brow peaking out from under the horse's belly, the grill of teeth (the office) below it; the hooded shapes beneath and above the figure's tail, the dagger shape in the lower left beneath the hoof and leg.

Lastly, Pegasus has a special connection to me as my father was a blacksmith at the Mobil Oil refinery in Buffalo for 25 years. Memories of passing the big pegasus sign every Sunday night on the way to Grandma’s.
